St. Augustine, Florida is the nations oldest city, founded in 1565 by Pedro Menéndez de Avilés. He was searching for the Fountain of Youth, and believed he found it in St. Augustine. The city has done a very good job of preserving it’s history. That gives St. Augustine 450 years of history!
If you’re looking for a nice educational or historic tour, you can’t beat St. Augustine. We’ve got old Spanish forts like the Castille de San Marcos, the St. Augustine Lighthouse, and Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum. Take a tour of the old city by boat, on foot, bicycle, scooter, trolley, or even horse drawn carriage.
