The Black Raven Pirate Ship Tour

See Florida’s best live pirate show on board a real pirate ship. Black Raven was designed and built for its purpose, to be a floating performance stage for live Pirate Shows. In fact, the ship was designed to fit the dock where she is currently moored.

Our goal is to provide a wide variety of dynamic and interactive entertainment programs that will suite all ages. The crew’s ambition is to deliver the best Pirate Show in Florida regardless the audience age group. The performance is rehearsed, but not scripted, allowing the pirates to improvise with the crowd. You never know what will happen while sailing across the mystic Matanzas Bay.

Family trips (daily)

Everybody may sing along with the pirates, participate in instrumental acts, be part of pirate skits and games, listen to true pirate stories, trivia, songs, jokes and magic. Occasionally we will have a black powder demonstration (crew certified). Free face painting for the kids.

General Admission Ticket prices are not valid for special events, and some tours may require reservations. Our regular, daily cruises do have a passenger capacity limit, so we always recommend calling ahead to reserve your seats. Treasure Hunt (every Saturday)

Rumors has it that Blackbeard’s crew has committed mutiny on his ship Queen Anne’s revenge. They are now sailing towards St. Augustine with his treasure chest full of booty. Every Saturday Black Raven will set sail to track down this ship in order to get this valuable booty. All kids onboard the Black Raven will be taught sword fight in order to be prepared for a possible attack. There will be a sea battle and cannons will be fired. Eventually, Black Raven will win the battle and Blackbeard’s booty will be shared by the children.

This trip is for adults only and all the material is suited for a more mature audience, so this cruise isn’t for the easily-offended. You will enjoy a rich blend of skits, stories, songs magic and more, all performed by our talented pirates. Enjoy your favorite libation in our fully licensed bar and let our pirate serenade you while you view the moonlit Matanzas Bay.

Black Raven Pirate Ship

Castillo de San Marcos

The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. It is located on the shore of Matanzas Bay in St. Augustine, Florida. Construction notably began in 1672, 107 years after the city’s founding by Spanish Admiral and conquistador Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, when Florida was still part of the Spanish Empire. The fort’s construction was ordered as a result of the destructive raid of the English privateer Robert Searles in 1668. Work proceeded, and the first coquina stones were laid in 1672. The construction of the current fortress was then completed in 1695, though it would undergo many alterations and renovations over the centuries.

Today, the fort is the highlight of any St. Augustine vacation tour. You can catch re-enactments with cannon firings daily. There are always demonstrations and hands on exhibits. Even just standing outside the Castillo can be amazing – dolphins are frequent visitors to the edge of the park, plus stunning views of the Bridge of Lions, and Vilano Beach across the bay. There is parking available here at the Castillo, plus the city parking garage is nearby. All trolleys and tours will also stop here during their routes.

Inside the Castillo, some areas may be inaccessible. There is one room you must crawl to get into, though it’s not an important part of the tour. Wheelchairs will be extremely limited, and it’s advised to call ahead and ask any questions before attempting the tour.
