Activities to Try in the Water on Your Vacation in Florida
No matter where you are traveling in Florida, there is so much to do across the state. If you are going to be along the coast, get out and enjoy the warm waters along Florida’s many beaches. You don’t have to stay on dry sand the whole time as there are a lot of different fun water activities to try.
Stand-Up Paddle Boarding
Stand-up paddleboarding is a fun and challenging activity to enjoy in Florida. One of the best tips for first-time paddleboarders is to use a leash to stay connected to the board. Paddleboarding can be an athletic activity that requires you to use your core strength when you paddle. It is important to check the weather before you go paddle boarding because too much wind can ruin the experience by making it difficult to stand. Though you are definitely going to fall off your board some if it is your first time doing it, with some practice you will be riding the waves like a pro.
Snorkeling
Another fun water activity to try is snorkeling. There are so many places that offer pristine waters for snorkeling in Florida. Ginnie Springs, Fort De Soto, and Destin are just a few places where you can have this experience. Snorkeling can come with challenges if you’re new to it. If it is your first time snorkeling, try to book your experience with a guide and a group to share in the activity. Before you get in the water you want to make sure your gear fits, including your fins and face mask so you can swim around easily.
Parasailing
If you want to see the crystal blue waters of Florida from high above, parasailing is the activity for you. When you parasail, you are attached to a boat and have a parachute above you so you fly behind the boat over the water. Oftentimes you will get dropped so your feet can touch the water during the experience. The great thing about parasailing is you can do it with multiple people. One of the most important factors in having a good parasailing experience is the weather, so make sure that you are going out on a bright day.
No matter where you are along Florida’s coasts, there are a lot of ways to take advantage of the state’s waters. Look up local companies where you will be traveling to try out new water activities and experiences. Trying something new in the water will elevate the fun on your vacation.
