Zaharias Restaurant
Zaharias
I’ve missed a gem.
I’ve lived here for a very long time, and I’ve passed Zaharias pretty much every day. Never even thought of stopping. No reason why that I can think of, the building looks nice from outside. You can see there’s a large outdoor patio, and it always looks busy.
For breakfast today, that wrong was righted.
At the suggestion of a friend, we took a ride to Zaharias. It’s located right on A1A at A1A Beach Boulevard, just south of Winn Dixie. There’s ample parking in the back of the building.
Since it was rather early, we had a mostly empty restaurant. I don’t think it would matter anyway, the restaurant has plenty of seating, both indoors and out. There are several areas to the building, which was not something evident from just driving by. I was surprised by the size for sure.
We were instantly greeted, and asked our preference for seating – bar, booth, or table. We chose a booth. There is no view here, it’s not on the water or anywhere scenic. You can see the hotel next door, or the road. And while the building is huge, the decor is nice but sparse.
The Food
We’re here for the food though. The waitress offered up the menus, took our drink orders, and by the time she was back we’d made up our minds. I didn’t catch her name, but she was very friendly and attentive. She noticed I was looking over the lunch menu, and we discussed I’d never been before. She ran off and brought me back a dinner menu, and a daily special menu, perhaps so I could be influenced to return soon.
Our food was out rather quickly, and everything was right. The omelette I ordered was larger than expected, and cooked to perfection. The home fries had nice pieces of onion cooked in with them, a nice added touch I don’t see often anymore. My only complaint was the bacon. It was made in an oven instead of on the grill, and it was very overcooked. It did have a slight clove taste to it, and I’ve love to try that flavor bacon if it were cooked properly.
Our waitress followed up several times through the meal, and even made us drinks to go when we were ready to leave. The food was a 4, our waitress was a 5.
All in all, a good experience, and I’m glad Zaharias was suggested to me.
